Headteacher at Normanton Junior Academy
I joined Normanton Junior Academy, as Headteacher, in April 2021 and am extremely privileged and proud to be part of the Waterton Academy Trust Family of Schools.
I qualified from York St John University in 2010, with a BA (Hons) in Primary Education. Over the past 11 years, I have worked within a variety of primary settings, including inner city Leeds and various parts of Wakefield. From April 2014, I worked in a one-form entry Catholic Primary School, part of a large Multi-Academy Trust within the Wakefield District, and as Deputy Headteacher was able to be part of the Team who secured a 'Good' Ofsted judgement, having previously been subject to 'special measures'. Following this success, I was then lucky enough to be promoted to Head of School and then substantive Headteacher at the school and was able to ensure the school continued to progress and go from strength to strength. Under my leadership, the school was placed as the 15th best performing primary school in Wakefield, following the 2019 End of Key Stage 2 Assessments.
My priority as Headteacher is to ensure that Normanton Junior Academy continues to be abeacon of excellence within Waterton Academy Trust, as well as the local community, making the necessary improvements and developments to ensure success is shared by all. Not only do I want all of our children to academically achieve, but I also want them to continue to become model citizens of Normanton, who are ready for life in Modern Britain.
Our Mission is ‘Together We Learn’’ and at NJA, we strive to do this in a truly outstanding way!
