I have a wealth of experience in governance as I was a governor at Walton school for about 15 years, starting as a parent governor when my sons were there and then staying as a community governor. I was part of the governing body during the building of the new school and amalagamation of the junior and infant schools. I was then Chair of governors for 2 years and was part of the team which formed the Waterton multiacademy Trust. When I left this role, I continued my involvement by becoming a member of the Academy.
I am interested in health care, being a Registered Nurse, and have worked in many areas of nursing, including being a ward sister in London and Doncaster. I completed a degree and masters degree as a mature student and then worked as a University lecturer for 25 years, teaching nurses and other health professionals. Since 'retiring' in 2016, I have worked part-time at Barnsley hospital, supporting students and newly qualified staff in practice.
